On August 13, 2025, law enforcement from the Carver County Sheriff's Office assisted the Renville County Sheriff's Office with the execution of a search warrant at a residence on Yale Avenue in the City of Norwood Young America, Carver County. During the execution of the original search warrant Deputy Nelson of the Renville County Sheriff's Office observed methamphetamine on a shelf in the garage and a pipe consistent with methamphetamine use in a downstairs bedroom. Officer Nelson obtained a subsequent search warrant to search the residence for controlled substances based on those observations.
Deputy Nelson seized the baggie of methamphetamine from the garage, which weighed 3.52 grams and field tested positive as methamphetamine. Deputy Nelson found mail in the name of Cody Douglas Molnau [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, in the garage. In the basement, Deputy Nelson located a baggie containing 4.97 grams of a substance that field tested positive as methamphetamine on a coffee table, along with a pipe commonly used for methamphetamine. Deputies located additional mail for Defendant in the basement area as well as clothing matching Defendant.
Defendant later admitted to knowing both containers of methamphetamine were present, and while denying ownership admitted he knew he would be considered to be in possession of them. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49., intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
