On January 2, 2026, at about 9:33 P.M., Hennepin County Sheriff's Officers were on routine patrol when they observed a vehicle facing northbound on Chicago Avenue S at its intersection with East Lake Street in Minneapolis, Hennepin County. The vehicle had its headlights on but turned them off completely just prior to turning west. Officers conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle. The driver, identified as NATHANAEL LEE DOEHLING [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, acknowledged the lights being the reason for the stop and thereafter informed officers that his [DL# REDACTED] was Cancelled - Inimical to Public Safety (IPS). In speaking with Defendant, officers also noticed that a prescription pill bottle with no label on it containing a white substance that appeared to be a napkin was resting on the emergency brake; there was a shooter of suspected alcohol in the cup holder underneath Defendant's hand; and there was a blue bag in the passenger side map pocket that contained marijuana.
Officers confirmed Defendant's driving status to be Cancelled - IPS and detained him. In a search of Defendant's person, two small tinfoil bindles of suspected narcotics were found in his right front jeans pocket. In a search of the vehicle, it was discovered that the pill bottle contained a large white rock-like substance that field-tested positive for 5.32 grams cocaine. Defendant is currently in custody at Hennepin County Jail.
