On March 13, 2026, SHARIF PHILLIP BRYANT [DOB REDACTED] was found competent in Ramsey County District Court file 62-CR-26-25 on misdemeanor assault charges. Bryant was granted a conditional release. Bryant punched a man on the Union Depot train platform. At around 8:00 PM on March 20, 2026, officers were sent to the area of Fifth and Cedar Streets on a man who was jumping in front of busses and acting in an erratic manner. Saint Paul Officers made contact with the man who left the area. At around 8:55 PM on March 20, 2026, officers were sent to the Union Depot rail station, St. Paul, Ramsey County on a man standing on the tracks refusing to let a train move delaying service.
Dispatch sent photos of the man on the tracks and it was the same man who was jumping in front of busses earlier. Officers found the man standing in the middle of the street, and it appeared he was trying to fight two other men. Officers stopped the man and identified him as Bryant. Bryant did not comply with police directives, and he was taken to the ground. Officers eventually placed Bryant in handcuffs. Officers located a 30-day Metro Transit trespass notice issued to Bryant earlier on March 20, 2026. Officers made contact with Bryant who was walking on the tracks.
Bryant spat at officers and threw snowballs at them during that incident. Officers had to convince Bryant to walk to a squad. When asked to get in the squad, Bryant refused and said, “I’m not getting in there. I’m gonna fucking kill you. You’re already dead. I’m coming for you.” Officers lifted Bryant into the squad and transported him to the Adult Detention Center at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Ramsey County. Bryant refused to exit the squad at the ADC. Bryant said, “I’m gonna fucking spit on you.” Officers forced Bryant to face away from them as they removed him from the squad.
While waiting to enter the jail, Bryant turned his face and spat on Officer Fickett’s face and arm. On April 20, 2023, Bryant was sentenced on an assault in the fifth degree in Ramsey County District Court file 62-CR-22-1379. Bryant had originally been charged with a felony assault in the fifth degree as he had 2 prior QDVROs within 3 years of that incident.
