On November 11, 2025, at 6:30 P.M., a deputy from the Anoka County Sheriff’s Office was on routine patrol when they noticed a vehicle running with the taillights illuminated in the parking lot of [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, city of Ham Lake, county of Anoka, Minnesota. The deputy approached the vehicle and observed an individual to be unconscious in the driver’s seat with tinfoil, freshly burnt residue, and a yellow straw-like smoking device in his lap. The deputy also observed a jar of marijuana in the backseat not properly packaged.
Deputies were able to wake up the individual, who verbally identified himself as MATTHEW JACOB REEDY [DOB REDACTED], Defendant hereinafter. Defendant initially denied having smoked anything when asked by the deputy; however, eventually admitted to smoking fentanyl. Due to Defendant admitting to smoking fentanyl, passing out with paraphernalia in his lap, and physical signs of impairment, standardized field sobriety testing was administered. Defendant showed signs of impairment and was taken into custody.
While searching Defendant's vehicle, a small vial with a white powder consistent with fentanyl was discovered on the front passenger seat of the vehicle. Defendant confirmed the substance was fentanyl. Midwest Lab testing confirmed the substance positive for.826 grams of fentanyl, xylazine, and medetomidine. Defendant has multiple prior drug-related convictions.
