On December 23, 2025, St. Anthony Police responded to an apartment building on the 2500 block of Silver Lane, St. Anthony, County of Ramsey, on a call where a person was not wanted inside the apartment. Officer Studer made contact with KAS in the parking lot in front of the apartment building. KAS requested officers remove LADAIRO RAY LOUIS SORREL-BENFORD, [DOB REDACTED], (aka Joseph Mannaseh Johnson) from her apartment. SORREL-BENFORD was previously arrested on December 20th for a reported Assault 5th Degree against KAS. On December 22nd, officers responded to the residence on a 911 call, but were not able to make contact with the suspect.
KAS told Officer Studer that on the night of December 22, 2025, she tried to all 911 multiple times, but SORREL-BENFORD prevented her from doing so. He punched her with a closed fist, grabbed her by the throat, and choked her. KAS said she was choked unconscious and was not able to answer the door when officers responded. KAS showed Officer Studer bruising around her neck. KAS responded that she did think SORRELL-BENFORD would try to kill her. SORRELL-BENFORD was found in the apartment, and was arrested.
After a Miranda advisory, SORRELL-BENFORD spoke to an officer. He said he and KAS argued loudly because they were drinking. He said they were chilling. SORREL-BENFORD said nothing physical occurred the prior night. From previous responses, Officer Krueger was aware that SORREL-BENFORD and KAS were in a prior romantic relationship.
