Throughout the residence, officers located other ammunition and evidence of firearm possession. 2 27-CR-26-9095 Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 4/10/2026 While officers were executing the search warrant, CEDILLO MARTINEZ returned home. He was placed under arrest. While in the residence, officers spoke to other family members who expressed frustration that other people stole their car while their family members were being arrested. CEDILLO MARTINEZ agreed to provide a Mirandized statement.
He stated he sleeps in the front bedroom which has a window that looks out to the street where GONZALEZ CEDILLO’S car was parked. He woke up and saw 2-3 people in and on both his brother’s car and father’s truck. He could not see much detail other than they were wearing all black. CEDILLO MARTINEZ stated he went outside to confront the car thieves by shouting at them. CEDILLO MARTINEZ admitted to bringing his firearm with him. CEDILLO MARTINEZ admitted to shooting at the individuals stealing his vehicle and continuing to fire as they drove away in his brother’s vehicle.
He stated he was wearing a black sweatshirt and white shorts at the time. CEDILLO MARTINEZ was asked about the fired bullet found in his bedroom. He stated he recovered it from the rear of his Ford Focus and assumed he accidentally shot his vehicle while shooting at the fleeing vehicle. He admitted it would be irresponsible for someone to wildly fire a gun down a street. CEDILLO MARTINEZ stated GONZALEZ CEDILLO came outside to provide backup. He did not think GONZALEZ CEDILLO fired his gun. GONZALEZ CEDILLO was located at his place of employment and placed under arrest.
