On April 22, 2026, around 2:37 A.M., officers responded to a shooting call at Hennepin Healthcare. Call notes relayed that the shooting had occurred in an apartment building near Elliott Park and that the victim was limping possibly due to a gunshot wound to the leg. Officers later identified the shooting location as 12XX South 9th Street, Apartment XXXX, in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Other officers responded to the shooting location and learned that the shooting had occurred in Victim’s apartment.
Inside the apartment, officers discovered a bullet hole in the wall of the living room area underneath a window. Officers noted dried blood and apparent fresh blood on the wall near the bullet hole and a white t-shirt with possible blood stains on it. Officers at the hospital learned that Victim had a bullet entry wound from the top of her right buttock and exiting through her upper right thigh. Victim told officers that before arriving at the hospital, she had been at her residence with the suspect and the suspect’s pregnant girlfriend.
Victim identified the suspect’s nickname as “Fresh” and believed that his first name was Mohamed. Victim stated that she had argued with the suspect’s girlfriend over the girlfriend touching Victim’s belongings. When the suspect intervened and became angrier with Victim, he escalated the situation by producing a black handgun and shooting Victim. After the shooting, the suspect and his girlfriend fled the apartment. Victim attempted to treat her wounds until her friend arrived to take her to the hospital.
Through investigation, law enforcement identified the shooter as Defendant MOHAMED HASSAN ROOBLE, born 01/06/1997. In a follow-up interview, Victim identified a photograph of Defendant as “Fresh” and as the person who had shot her. Victim later received a text message from an unknown number stating, “It was a[n] accident.” Surveillance footage from the apartment building showed a male who matched the description Victim provided bringing a bike and plastic bag inside the building. Officers matched the apartment surveillance video to Defendant’s booking photo.
On April 23, law enforcement located Defendant near Chicago Avenue and 14th Street East—two blocks from the shooting location. Defendant fled from police on a bicycle and was ultimately apprehended. Underneath a vehicle where officers ultimately apprehended Defendant, they found a black Glock 19 handgun. Defendant is in custody. Charges are pending for the separate incident from April 23 in which officers located the firearm and suspected narcotics during Defendant’s arrest. He is also facing charges in court files #••-CR-••-••••, ••-CR-••-••••, ••-CR-••-••••, and ••-CR-••-••••.
