On April 30, 2026, at around 2346 hours, Minneapolis Police Department officers responded to an unknown trouble call at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Minneapolis, Hennepin County. The call later changed to a Domestic Abuse in Progress. Upon arrival, officers heard a female scream as they pulled up to the area. Officers saw a white SUV with license plate MN-LBM577 leave the scene and heard a window break. Officers stopped and saw a female in distress pointing at the vehicle, later identified as Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Officers followed the vehicle and made a traffic stop before the intersection of Lake St. E. And 13th Ave S. Officers approached the vehicle and saw an open container of alcohol.
Officers then reached in and turned off the vehicle and asked the driver to step out. The driver only spoke Spanish and was later identified by passport as ROLANDO CESAR ZUNA CAMAS AKA CRISTIAN PAUL CAMAS MAZA, [DOB REDACTED] (now referred to as "Defendant"). Defendant was bleeding from the left leg. Defendant explained Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Caused the bleeding and broke the rear window of his vehicle. Officers spoke further with Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. At the address. Officers noticed that her left eye and cheek bone were completely swollen.
Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Stated that it was caused by her partner/boyfriend, Defendant. Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Stated that she was at home and Defendant was drinking alcohol and began to argue with her regarding the issue of infidelity. Defendant later apologized to Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. And started to be nice to her. Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Said Defendant asked her to have sexual intercourse, she declined. When Defendant heard her response, he began to punch and hit Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. With a closed fist at her face and eye, he also slapped and threw her down to the ground where he kicked her twice in the stomach.
During the time Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Was on the ground, she stated Defendant came from behind and grabbed her throat with one hand. She said that he squeezed her throat for about three seconds. Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Stated she did feel like her life was in danger and thought something bad was about to happen to her. Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Said that her only response during the strangulation was to bite Defendant's leg in order to release his grip from her neck. Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Said that her biting his leg stopped the strangulation but did not stop the assault.
Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Stated Defendant only stopped when she screamed out that she was pregnant with their unborn child. Defendant quickly exited the house and began to walk towards his vehicle. Victim [NAME REDACTED]V. Said that she called 911 while she followed him to prevent him from leaving the scene. She said that she threw a bottle at Defendant's vehicle's window before he drove off. Defendant is currently in custody at the Hennepin County Jail.
