On December 8, 2-25, at 5:35 P.M., Washington County Sheriff's Deputy responded to an apartment in the city of Newport, Washington County, Minnesota on a report of harassment. Deputy spoke with Victim, a known adult, about the incident. Victim reported that John Wayne Balderston, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein was on site and throwing something at her window. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been sending her threatening voicemails and text messages. In one message, "…you should be careful." In another message Defendant sent, "I'm coming in one way or other." Victim also provided a recording of a phone call from Defendant.
Victim said, I'm scared of you." Defendant replied, "Scare of me b*tch, I'll cut your f*cking throat. And I'm going to get a murder charge because of you b*tch." Victim also told Deputy that she believed Defendant was in the area because he had requested that she leave a blanket outside for him. Deputies were unable to locate Defendant. Victim was so afraid to go outside of her residence that she left pads on the floor for her dog to use instead of going outside. On December 8, 2025, at 8:05 A.M., Victim [NAME REDACTED] in which Defendant was knocking on her window, trying to get into her residence.
The state respectfully requests a warrant in this file. Defendant has an active warrant for misdemeanor domestic assault in 82-CR-25-5076 issued on November 26, 2025, involving the same victim.
