Jassimine Latara Lynn Shelton

On April 26, 2026, a Bloomington Police Detective was working at Walmart, [ADDRESS REDACTED] E, Bloomington, Hennepin County, when he was notified by Asset Protection that two black females were concealing merchandise. The detective went to the office and observed a black female in a gold jacket moving at a fast pace walk to the pastry section of the store and conceal ice cream into shopping bags. Another female, who also had merchandise concealed in shopping bags, then met up with this female. The black female wearing gold had ice cream and other Walmart merchandise concealed.

The other black female wearing a black top and blue pants had shower curtain merchandise concealed into shopping bags. All unpaid for merchandise was in one shopping cart. Both females then continued to walk through the store, passed the self-checkout stations with the cart, and passed all points of sale into the vestibule of Walmart when they were notified that they were under arrest for theft. Officers identified one of the females as JASSIMINE LATARA LYNN SHELTON, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant." Upon running checks, officers learned Defendant had three active warrants for her arrest and later confirmed those warrants.

While conducting a search incident to arrest, officers located 9.46 grams (with its packaging) of suspected fentanyl inside of a plastic container. They also located 4.42 grams (with its packaging0 of suspected fentanyl wrapped in burnt tinfoil inside. While at Walmart, Defendant advised Officers she had used 7 grams of fentanyl prior to making contact with police, so Defendant was taken to Fairview Southdale to be evaluated. While at the hospital, Defendant spit on an officer's face, hitting her left cheek.

Defendant was later transported to the Hennepin County Jail, where she remains in custody. On April 27, 2026, officers tested the suspected narcotics found on Defendant and both NIK tested positive for fentanyl.
