30 A.M., Detective Cortez Arredondo attempted to make contact with DAVID BARRIENTOZ, [DOB REDACTED], at [ADDRESS REDACTED] SW in the City of Willmar, Kandiyohi County, MN, for a Predatory Offender Registration compliance check. This was the address registered by BARRIENTOZ as his primary address. An unknown female answered the door and stated that BARRIENTOZ was not there, and she was unsure of where he was. At approximately 1:16 P.M., the CEE VI Drug and Gang Task Force executed a search warrant at [ADDRESS REDACTED] SE in the City of Willmar, Kandiyohi County, MN, in the basement apartment, for an unrelated matter.
Agents believed this was BARRIENTOZ’S current address. Detective Arredondo interviewed BARRIENTOZ’S girlfriend, Denisse Ybarra. Ybarra stated she had been in a relationship with BARRIENTOZ since March 2024. She lives at [ADDRESS REDACTED] SE with BARRIENTOZ. They have lived there since June 2025. They do not pay rent but do odd jobs for the property owner. Prior to this, they would stay overnight at each other’s residence. BARRIENTOZ lived at [ADDRESS REDACTED] SW and she lived at 300 7th Street NW, [APT REDACTED]. Detective Arredondo spoke with BARRIENTOZ. Detective Arredondo told him he tried to contact him earlier that morning for his registration compliance check.
BARRIENTOZ said he tried to call Detective Arredondo back and even called Dispatch. Detective Arredondo noted he did not receive any calls from BARRIENTOZ and was not notified by Dispatch that BARRIENTOZ tried to reach him. BARRIENTOZ said everything on his registration is current but he was planning to change his address to the [ADDRESS REDACTED] SE. He did not want to change it yet because he was unsure of the status of renting there due to an unrelated arrest. BARRIENTOZ said they moved to that address at the beginning of the month and hand’t been there for a month yet.
BARRIENTOZ said they were staying there while doing work on the property. BARRIENTOZ admitted to staying at Ybarra’s residence in the past. BARRIENTOZ said his phone number is disconnected right now but he just needs to pay the bill to reactivate it. BARRIENTOZ stated he did not want to change any of the information on his compliance check form. Detective Arredondo spoke with the property owner who stated that BARRIENTOZ and Ybarra have been living at [ADDRESS REDACTED] SE since the end of June 2025. They work odd jobs in exchange for rent. 2 ••-CR-••-•••• Filed in District Court State of Minnesota 11/20/2025 BARRIENTOZ is required to register as a predatory offender.
