On June 12, 2025, Eden Prairie police received a call from S. R. To report ongoing domestic violence by her husband, Wajid Baig Mirza, born on [DOB REDACTED], herein DEFENDANT. Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been married to DEFENDANT since May 8, 2022. Victim stated a year after they married, DEFENDANT began “mentally torturing” her and acted very controlling of her. Victim stated the abuse became physical and recounted an incident where DEFENDANT grabbed her neck and pushed her up against a wall. Victim [NAME REDACTED], “I want to kill you” while putting his leg on her neck as she was on the ground.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] would hit her in the face with a closed fist so hard that she had to take medication for the pain. In 2024, the abuse continued when Victim [NAME REDACTED] India together. During that trip, DEFENDANT took Victim’s passport and ID and continued to control Victim. In January 2025, at [ADDRESS REDACTED], Eden Prairie, Hennepin County, Victim recalled DEFENDANT hit her and held Victim [NAME REDACTED], “I want to kill you.” Victim [NAME REDACTED] would keep her isolated in the apartment, take her phone, and would withhold food from her.
Victim [NAME REDACTED] was always afraid of calling 911 because DEFENDANT would take her baby if she called police. Another incident in January 2025, DEFENDANT and Victim [NAME REDACTED] intercourse when DEFENDANT stated he wanted to kill her while physically assaulting her. In February 2025, the couple went to India. DEFENDANT again took Victim’s passport and her child’s passport so that Victim could not fly back to the US and neither could their baby. This time, Victim had to work with the US Embassy and was granted a passport to fly with the baby back to the United Stated under exigent circumstances.
Victim reports being terrified of DEFENDANT since 2023. DEFENDANT is currently out of custody and his whereabouts are unknown. A warrant is requested.
