On or about January 6th 2026 at approximately 7:06 pm, responded to an assault on the 5200 Block of Grandview Square in Edina, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival officers spoke with reporting party TT who stated that her children’s father Wesley Steven DeBerry [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, punched her mother. She stated this happened during a custody exchange. Her mother, the victim, [NAME REDACTED] in the head, was bleeding from her eyes and had lost consciousness. TT and the Defendant had met at the Hennepin County Library, for a planned custody exchange of their two kids.
They got into a fight regarding the Defendant’s belief that TT was coaching the kids not to go with him. TT and the Defendant got into a verbal argument while the victim [NAME REDACTED] from the vestibule of the building. The victim [NAME REDACTED] told Defendant that she was going to call 911. The Defendant then punched her in the face. She fell back and hit her face. TT called 911. The Victim was transported to HCMC where the doctor stated she had brain bleed and would suffer prolonged deficits.
The Defendant was taken into custody. In a post Miranda Statement he stated “I messed up I should have dropped my kid off and left.” He further stated “I f***** up my life, I just snapped, I was getting my kids back but because I just punched this lady, its all over.” The Defendant is in custody on this charge.
