On April 2, 2026, at approximately 10:10 PM, officers with the Spring Lake Park Police Department were dispatched to a report of a burglary in process at the Aqua Fresh Laundromat, "Victim" herein, located at [ADDRESS REDACTED] NE, city of Spring Lake Park, county of Anoka. The owner of the 24-hour laundromat, H. C., advised that he was watching on live video surveillance as a male with a tan hoodie and black pants was trying to break into an office using some sort of tool. Upon arrival, officers located the suspect, ANDRZEJ ROBERT SZAFRAN [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein, and took him into custody.
After Defendant was arrested, officers found a multi-tool knife lodged in the door handle of a door labeled "Staff Only." Defendant was searched incident to arrest and a plastic baggie containing a crystal substance was found in his pants pocket. Defendant stated that the substance was methamphetamine. Law enforcement field tested the suspected narcotics and confirmed it was methamphetamine with a packaged weight of 1.7 grams. H. C. Provided video surveillance to law enforcement which shows Defendant attempting to break into the locked office door.
The video shows Defendant removing a multi-tool from a fanny pack and attempting to manipulate the door handle, while also using his body weight to push on the door in an attempt to gain entry. Defendant is in custody.
