On August 23, 2025, Officers Witt Miller with the Woodbury Police Department initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle due to a cracked windshield and items hanging from the rearview mirror. The stop occurred as the vehicle turned into the Woodbury Walmart. Officer Miller made contact with the driver who provided him with the name AIMEE ANN FENTON, [DOB REDACTED]. Officer Miller was suspicious that the driver incorrectly identified themselves and later identified her via IBIS to be TERRI LEE CASELLO, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein.
Officer Miller discovered that Defendant was subject to a Ramsey County arrest warrant. Defendant was placed under arrest as a result of the outstanding warrant and on probable cause of providing the name and date of birth of another person. Officer Witt asked Defendant about items in the vehicle, specifically a purse that had been at her feet where she was seated in the vehicle. Defendant denied ownership and stated that the purse has been there when she entered the vehicle and claimed it might have belonged to her grandmother.
Officer Witt asked for consent to search the vehicle, Defendant denied. Officer Witt went on to speak to Defendant's grandmother and she was indecisive on whether the purse belonged to her. When asked by officers, Defendant stated that she had been clean from drugs for "awhile" and denied that there were any drugs in the vehicle. Officers learned that all occupants of the vehicle had a drug history. Officer Witt believed that the purse contained illegal items due to Defendant's attempt to distance herself from the purse, her criminal history, and her behavior during this stop.
Officer Witt summoned a K9 unit which established probable cause to search the vehicle. Officers searched the purse and found several hypodermic syringes, several small cotton filters and a small amount of a crystalline substance that was consistent with methamphetamine. Additionally, documents that were in Defendant' name were found in the purse. The presumptive methamphetamine weighed without the packaging, 0.69 grams.
