On August 30, 2025, officers responded to a call for an 8-month-old baby not breathing at an apartment in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. The baby reportedly ingested fentanyl. Two adults were inside the apartment, including an adult female later identified as Kaitlin Marie Anderson [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. The Defendant appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance to responding officers. When speaking with officers the Defendant provided a false name of another: Demery Morgan Saice [DOB REDACTED] who was not present at the scene of the incident.
Officers positively identified the Defendant after locating a fanny pack with narcotics and the Defendant’s identification. The mother of the child told police she believed her baby could have gotten into the Defendant’s fentanyl. The Defendant was over at the apartment sleeping over for the night. A search of the residence was conducted. Officers located the following of note: • Cutting board with powder on it on top of the fridge • A powder substance on a phone in the bathroom • A baby bottle with formula in it in a pile of clothing • A tinfoil with burn residue in the trash can • A wetted/soaked bindle of a white powdery substance and white rock, both found underneath the couch and believed to be what the baby ingested. • Black fanny pack inside a black backpack near the front door of the apartment.
The fanny pack contained suspected narcotics and an ID for the Defendant. The Defendant was taken into custody for a felony warrant from another county. The substance located in the Defendant’s wallet was sent to the Bureau of Criminal Apprehension for testing. The substance tested positive for 0.391g of fentanyl. The state requests the complaint be issued by warrant as the State has concerns regarding the Defendant’s ability to appear by summons.
