On December 6, 2025, at 9:24 A.M., officers from the Buffalo Police Department responded to a building at 311 10th Avenue South in the City of Buffalo, Wright County, Minnesota, for a burglary in progress involving a threat of violence. The officers observed a broken lockbox on a door that had been opened. A male, later identified as Brian Howard Vomhof [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant, was in a locked female bathroom in a portion of the building that was under construction. Officer Schiro commanded Defendant to exit the bathroom with hands up.
Defendant said the officers had thirty seconds to leave the building and started counting aloud. Defendant finally exited the bathroom after approximately fifty minutes. Defendant was initially holding a metal pipe, but dropped the pipe after multiple commands to do so. Officer Schiro spoke with the reporting party, hereinafter Complainant. Complainant reported the following: Complainant went to check on the building; Complainant observed Defendant in the building; Defendant was not authorized to be in the building; Complainant asked Defendant what Defendant was doing in the building; Defendant told Complainant that Complainant had one minute to leave the building or Defendant would shoot Complainant; Complainant left the building and called 911.
