On Saturday, November 1, 2025, at approximately 5:30 A.M., Deputy Sedarski responded to a multi-unit residential building in the City of Byron, County of Olmsted, State of Minnesota for a suspected domestic assault. Upon arrival, Deputy Sedarski approached both a female and a male voice yelling. While standing outside [APT REDACTED], the deputy could hear a male voice yelling and a female voice crying and saying something to the effect of "get off of me." Deputy Sedarski pounded on the door and announced his presence.
Suddenly, the noise went quiet and the deputy pounded on the door again. A short time later, RAYSHAD DAMARIUSS HESTER [DOB REDACTED] opened the door, shirtless. Deputy Sedarski noticed a scratch on his neckline. HESTER entered the apartment to get a shirt and the deputy went to the back bedroom. There, Deputy Sedarski saw an adult female (hereinafter "Victim") laying on her back on the floor, crying hysterically with both hands covering her face. An infant was on the bed. The room was disheveled.
Deputy Sedarski took a statement from Victim. According to Victim, HESTER threw her against the wall, "choked" her, and pulled her hair. Victim [NAME REDACTED] on top of her in the living room, the bedroom, and the bathroom. When asked how much force HESTER used to strangle Victim, Victim stated "a lot." According to Victim she could not breathe for 30 seconds to one minute and HESTER let go when the deputy knocked on the door. Victim stated that HESTER also struck her, and that HESTER struck and strangled Victim [NAME REDACTED]. Victim stated that she hit her head on the corner of the wall near the kitchen, that HESTER grabbed her right arm and squeezed it.
Victim also reported HESTER pushing her while Victim [NAME REDACTED] infant (Victim and HESTER are the parents of the child). Victim reported getting a kitchen knife to defend herself, but she did not use it against HESTER. Regarding past abuse, Victim [NAME REDACTED] had tried to strangle or choke her many times in the last six years, but she did not call the police because she did not want HESTER to get in trouble. Deputy Sedarski noticed a red mark on the inside of Victim's right forearm and a scratch on Victim's neck underneath her ear.
While the deputy was speaking with Victim, [NAME REDACTED] in a raspy voice. Deputy Pagel spoke with a neighbor who stated that they could hear yelling and crying coming from [APT REDACTED]. According to the neighbor, "he" was yelling at "her." There were also loud noises like personal property or furniture being moved or dropped. Deputy Nelson spoke with HESTER. According to HESTER, Victim assaulted him by pulling his hair, scratching him and pushing him, but he did nothing to Victim. According to HESTER, he merely put his hands on Victim's collarbone area until she stopped pulling his hair.
