At approximately 10:56 A.M., Detective Ellis observed the defendant driving a 2016 silver Dodge Durango (MN license 3DR628) pull into the parking lot behind the defendant’s residence. The defendant and a male passenger exited the vehicle and entered the defendant’s residential building for a few minutes before returning to the vehicle. Through his training and experience, Detective Brogan knows subjects involved in controlled substance related activities will commonly possess and/or utilize multiple phones.
The defendant was also carrying a duffle bag that contained keys to the vehicle. The defendant was transported to his residence where Detective Ellis and other law enforcement officers were searching his residence. Detective Brogan remained on scene with the defendant’s vehicle. A short time later, Olmsted County Deputy Nicholas Heimer arrived at the location where the defendant’s vehicle was parked with his K9 partner, Zeus. Zeus conducted an exterior sniff of the defendant’s vehicle and alerted, indicating narcotics.
