Cloud Correctional Facility in the City of St. Cloud, County of Sherburne, State of Minnesota. Correctional officer Sgt. DG and another correctional officer were releasing the defendant from segregation to be returned to general population. As the door was opened the defendant the defendant stepped out of the cell and began to throw closed fist punches at Sgt. DG, striking him Sgt. DG in the face. The Incident Command System (ICS) was activated for a staff assault. The defendant was taken to the ground and was held in place until the response team took the defendant into their control.
Sgt. DG was transported to the St. Cloud emergency room where he received medical attention. Sgt. DG was held out from work after experiencing lasting symptoms consistent with possible concussion/traumatic brain injury. Sgt. DG had visible cuts on the inside of his lip, along with redness and swelling as a result of the defendant's assault. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49, intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
