On or about April 16, 2026, officers from the Fridley Police Department responded to a residence in the city of Fridley, Anoka County, Minnesota, on a report of domestic assault. The caller was the minor child of the victim, both of whom are fully identified in the police reports. The caller reported he could hear the Victim and her boyfriend arguing and then heard the victim’s boyfriend throw a glass. The caller further reported hearing his Victim’s boyfriend threatening that he was going to knock the victim out and slap her.
Officers later identified the victim’s boyfriend as GERARD ANDRE FERRELL (D. O. B. 09/07/1991), hereinafter “Defendant.” Officers arrived and made contact with the victim, who reported that she and the Defendant had lived together for about a year and a half and had been dating for approximately two years. And they also have an infant child in common. The victim reported that she and the Defendant had been in an argument in the apartment. The victim reported that the Defendant began throwing items around the kitchen and knocking things off the shelf.
The victim further reported that, at one point during the argument, the Defendant grabbed her by the jaw and pushed her back into the kitchen wall. During this time, Defendant stated he would “beat her ass,” and other threats of physical violence. Defendant was previously convicted of violating a no-contact order on January 16, 2020. See Court File No. 19HA-CR-19-3024. Defendant was previously convicted of domestic assault by strangulation on January 16, 2020. See Court File No. 19HA-CR-19-1418. Defendant was convicted of violating a no-contact order on November 4, 2016. See Court File No. 55-CR- 16-5219. Defendant was convicted of violating a domestic abuse no-contact order on June 6, 2016. See Court File No. 55-CR-16-4108.
