On October 31, 2025, Deputy Megan Maurer responded to a domestic assault at 34346 100th Ave, Onamia, MN. Upon arrival, the deputy observed the victim, [NAME REDACTED], visibly distraught and crying with a red face. Lovaas stated that earlier that morning Robert Edward Lee Carter, threatened her over the phone, saying he would beat her face in. Lovaas reported that this threat caused her to fear for her safety and believe Carter intended to inflict harm. Shortly thereafter, Carter arrived at her residence unannounced and entered the home.
Lovaas reported Carter smelled of alcohol and appeared intoxicated. After briefly interacting with his daughter, Carter became enraged, yelling at Lovaas, accusing her of taking his children, and calling her a “c***.” Carter then pushed Lovaas against a garage door and slapped her twice. Carter fled the scene in a vehicle with an unknown male and later told a third party he “had to get out of here.” Officers attempted to locate Carter but were unsuccessful.
