On or about October 30, 2025, at around 5:00 P.M., police responded to Target at 600 1st Ave N in Minneapolis Hennepin County MN for a theft. Police arrived and were told by security at the Target that the suspect verbally identified as Gionti Makkiel Roberts [DOB REDACTED], Defendant hereinafter, had stolen a Timberwolves jacket that was priced at $250. Security showed police security video of Defendant in the store with a black bag depicting Defendant walking up to the jackets and taking the item it off the hanger and putting it into his bag.
He continues walking around the store. He then approaches some jerseys, and he puts one into the bag. Defendant then leaves the store without paying for the items that were concealed in his bag and starts walking across the skyway. Target security told police an employee had intervened to prevent Defendant from stealing the jersey. Police discovered a felony warrant for theft in Hennepin County and a felony warrant from Ramsey County for receiving stolen property. Police searched Defendant incident to arrest.
Police found suspected narcotics in his left front pants pocket. Defendant said that it was fentanyl. Police weighed and tested the suspected fentanyl, and it was.51 gram(s) approximate weight recovered from packaging, which field-tested positive for fentanyl.
