On November 25, 2025, at about 11:24 P.M., Officer Edholm of the Rochester Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle due to multiple equipment violations near 41st Street and Frontage Road, Olmsted County, Minnesota. The driver, JDEN ANTHONY BONNER [DOB REDACTED], was unable to provide a driver’s license or proof of insurance for the vehicle. While standing at the front passenger window, Officer Edholm detected the odor of burnt marijuana coming from the vehicle. Officer Edholm observed in plain view partially smoked marijuana cigar, commonly referred to as a “blunt” or “roach” near the shifter, constituting open containers of marijuana.
A search of the vehicle was conducted and a black Glock 19 handgun was recovered under the driver’s seat. The handgun was loaded, not in a holster, and not properly cased. The handgun contained a loaded magazine, and a 9mm round was chambered. In a post-Miranda statement, BONNER admitted the handgun was his and that he did not have a permit to carry. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: YOU MUST APPEAR FOR EVERY COURT HEARING REGARDING THIS CASE. FAILURE TO APPEAR FOR COURT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE AND MAY RESULT IN ADDITIONAL CRIMINAL CHARGES BEING IMPOSED AND PUNISHED AS PROVIDED IN MINNESOTA STATUTES SECTION 609.49.
