Faruq Mohamud Mohamud, [DOB REDACTED], is detained at the Ramsey County Law Enforcement Center in St. Paul, Ramsey County, being held on two suspended charges, pursuant to Rule 20: Simple Robbery, 62CR255126, and Assault in the 4th Degree, 62CR255227. On December 7, 2025, at 0925 hours, Ramsey County Correctional Officers responded to Mohamud’s cell. Mohamud called Officer Yang racial slurs. He then stated, “I will kill your family. I will rape your mom and daughter. I will hurt a CO like I did back in July.” Yang ignored this barrage of threats and insults.

A short time later officers discovered that Mohamud had broken the sprinkler head in his cell. Water was squirting from the head and flooding the cell. Mohamud was in the cell, laughing, gesturing with a middle finger. He repeated to Officer Yang that “I will kill you, chink.” While officers intervened and placed Mohamud in handcuffs, Mohamud spit saliva on Yang, striking him on the right arm and chest. Other correctional officers witnessed this assault. Surveillance video also recorded the behavior.

Based on training and experience, the damage to the cell will exceed $1000 for repair and replacement of the broken sprinkler head and water damage remediation.
