On May 9, 2025, Sergeant Anderson with the Wright County Sheriff’s Office was patrolling stationary near Maple Street in the City of Rockford, Wright County, Minnesota. Sergeant Anderson observed a vehicle bearing MN license plate [PLATE REDACTED], traveling eastbound. Sergeant Anderson observed the passenger of the vehicle to be Thomas Andrew Morgan Jr [DOB REDACTED] hereinafter defendant who Sergeant Anderson was familiar with. Sergeant Anderson was aware defendant had a felony body only warrant out of Benton County.
Sergeant Anderson initiated a traffic stop and made contact with defendant and advised him of the warrant. Agent Young arrived on scene to assist and observed a glass bubble pipe in defendant’s back pocket. Sergeant Anderson observed the pipe had burnt residue consistent with methamphetamine use. A search of the vehicle located a plastic container with white crystal residue from the passenger compartment of the vehicle. The observed residue did not appear to have weight. Agent Young located a cloth glasses case located in the front pocket of defendant containing two plastic baggies.
One of the baggies contained a small amount of crystal substance that field tested positive for methamphetamine. Test results confirmed the methamphetamine, a schedule-II controlled substance, that weighed approximately 0.021 grams.
