On April 4, 2026, at 1219 hours, St. Paul police officers responded to the 1700 block of Case, St. Paul, Ramsey County, on a report of a domestic. Officers saw a female, JLVJ, [DOB REDACTED], walking quickly out of apartment 7. She was crying. A male, Edward Leon Fields, [DOB REDACTED], ran out of the same door, chasing JLVJ. Officers saw Fields used two hands to push JLVJ hard against the wall. Officers arrested Fields. JLVJ said that Fields is her boyfriend of 9 years. She lives with Fields. His mother, MLB, [DOB REDACTED], was at the apartment.
JLVJ said that Fields is mentally ill and uses methamphetamines. He refuses to go to treatment. She said he had not slept in days. Fields argued with his mother. She saw Fields push his mother to the floor after she said that she was going to call the police. JLVJ got between Fields and his mother. Fields was yelling at her, and he was spitting in her face. JLVJ said that she was going to call the police. She ran out the apartment door with her phone and ran down the hall. Fields pursued her and pushed her, knocking the phone from her hands.
In a post-Miranda interview, Fields denied assaulting anyone.
