On January 25, 2026, at approximately 10:00 A.M., law enforcement received a call for service regarding a domestic assault at an apartment in Moorhead, Clay County, MN. The caller was a juvenile, who reported that a man had hit his mother and was grabbing her. He was able to provide dispatch with the name of the male and a description of the vehicle that he was left in. The male was identified as LARRY DARNELL JOHNSON, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant". Defendant and the juvenile's mother, hereinafter "Victim", live together and have a child [NAME REDACTED]. At the scene, officers spoke with Victim [NAME REDACTED] had put his hands on her and left.
She reported that her son had called 911. Specifically, Victim [NAME REDACTED] had been gone for a couple of days and returned home that morning. He had taken her phone when he left and when she saw it in the living room, she went to grab it. As she went to grab the phone, Defendant hit her on top of the head with what she believed was his open hand. She said that her head hurt and she began to cry. Victim [NAME REDACTED] was going to hurt her or beat her up when he struck her. Victim reported that after being struck, she turned to walk away and Defendant grabbed her arm, causing a scratch mark on her hand.
