On April 11, 2026, Bloomington Police took a report relating to threats made by ANTHONY JOHN MILLER Sr., Defendant herein. Witness 1 reported that her son, Defendant, was calling and texting several family members throughout the course of the day threatening to kill them. Witness 1 reported that Defendant recently lost his job, had monetary issues, and had been told his fiancée was leaving him and taking their 2.5-year-old child. Witness 1 reported that Defendant had been sober for 7 years, but she believes he recently relapsed.
Officers then spoke to Witness 1’s significant other, Victim 1. Victim 1 reported that Defendant called him that day and made multiple threats to shoot up the house where Victim 1 and Witness 1 live and had a bullet specifically for Victim 1. Victim 1 reported being concerned for his safety. Officers then spoke to Defendant’s adult son, Victim 2. Victim 2 reported that he got a series of text messages that day from Defendant stating Defendant had a gun and bullets meant for him. Victim 2 also forwarded investigators a threatening voicemail from Defendant.
Victim 2 reported that he believed Defendant was threatening to kill him. Victim 2 told police he was leaving his house to stay elsewhere that night as he was concerned for his safety. Officers also spoke to Defendant’s ex-fiancée. She reported not being directly threatened by Defendant, but that he had been harassing her all day trying to figure out where their child was. When he learned his child was with Witness 1 and Victim 1, he was upset and she did not know what he was capable of. Concerned for both his welfare and the welfare of his family, officers pinged Defendant’s phone and took him into custody.
In a post-Miranda interview, Defendant allowed investigators to look through his phone where they found a text sent to Victim 2 that day saying, “I’m fully protected and ready to walk in guns blazing on Don and Nana, then going to man, then Jill, and then you… I need you to save this from happening. Call me ASAP.” Defendant is in custody.
