On January 27, 2026, at 1:25 AM, Edina police were on routine patrol near Highway 62 and France Avenue within the city of Edina, Hennepin County. Officers were alerted to a dark colored Chevrolet Silverado pick-up truck that appeared to be travelling below the posted speed limit. While following the vehicle, officers observed a lone occupant and driver, later identified as, LAWRENCE, BARRIE MAUREEN [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant." Defendant had varying speeds, abrupt directional changes, weaved within the lane, and crossed the lane divider line.
Police initiated a traffic stop by activating emergency lights as Defendant entered Highway 494 from Highway 100. Defendant did not stop, and police activated the squad car siren as well. Defendant did not stop and continued driving. The Defendant crossed over lane lines again and then accelerated and traveled at speeds upwards of 80-100 mph. A pursuit was commenced. Multiple agencies joined in the pursuit and used multiple tire deflation devices. Even after the driver's side tires were completed shredded off, Defendant continued driving.
After entering the city of Minneapolis from Highway 394, Defendant lost control of the vehicle, spun out, and struck the interstate barrier wall. The total distance of the pursuit was 15.7 miles. Defendant was taken into custody after officers approached and ensured the vehicle could no longer flee. During their investigation, police learned Defendant's driving privileges are Cancelled as Inimical to Public Safety, and she had a gross misdemeanor warrant for a DWI offense in Hennepin County. Police observed the vehicle ignition appeared "punched" and a screwdriver was seen inside the cab.
Officers also located approximately 5.39 grams of methamphetamine on the driver's seat. Defendant is currently in custody pending charges from this incident.
