On September 2, 2025, around 10:45pm, officers of the Anoka Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle on Highway 10 east of 7th Ave in Anoka, Anoka County, MN, for multiple moving violations and suspicious behavior. The driver was identified as MARCUS LORENZO MCDONALD [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, via a release document he produced from the Anoka County Jail. The passenger was also identified and did not have a driver's license. Defendant was showing a revoked driving status. Officers had Defendant step out of the vehicle and asked if they could search him.
Defendant agreed, and nothing of note was found. Officers then requested permission to search Defendant's vehicle, which he consented to. A plastic baggie containing what appeared to be psychedelic mushrooms and a plastic baggie containing a green-leafy substance consistent with marijuana were found. Defendant ultimately admitted that the drugs were his. The marijuana was not in proper packaging and weighed 72.3 grams. The Midwest Regional Forensic Laboratory testing confirmed the substance was 9.390 grams of psilocyn.
Defendant has no prior drug-related convictions. Defendant is not in custody for this offense as of the filing of this complaint. He has a separate matter (02- CR-25-4498 ) set for an OH on 1/15/26 at 1:30pm. The State requests that this matter be set for a first appearance on that same date if possible.
