On December 7, 2025, law enforcement was dispatched to a residence in the City of Melrose, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, for a report of a domestic assault. Dispatch notes indicated the boyfriend choked his girlfriend. Upon arrival, law enforcement made contact with R. M. L. P., fully identified in police reports. R. M. L. P. Had injuries on her neck. R. M. L. P. Reported she was in the room holding a bottle for one of the children. Miguel Angel Botello Martinez, [DOB REDACTED], defendant herein, woke up and started to tell R. M. L. P. To clean the room.
Defendant punched R. M. L. P. In the face. Defendant then strangled R. M. L. P. R. M. L. P. Reported difficulty breathing when defendant strangled her. She further reported defendant had an angry look in his eyes. R. M. L. P. Also reported defendant pulled her hair and punched her in the back and in the ribs. Defendant took R. M. L. P.'s phone so she went to get S. E. B.'s, fully identified in police reports, phone. Defendant again grabbed R. M. L. P.'s neck and punched the skin near the center of her neck.
R. M. L. P. Was holding Child A, fully identified in police reports, at this time. R. M. L. P. Had a black eye and said that was caused by defendant a few days prior. When law enforcement initially got to the residence, defendant admitted things got out of hand. When law enforcement detained defendant, he wanted law enforcement to search him outside. Defendant stated he had methamphetamine in his jeans and he did not want his mother to see that. Law enforcement located a baggy with white crystal-like substance.
The substance was later field tested and field tested positive for methamphetamine. Defendant and R. M. L. P. Are family or household members. Complainant has reason to believe and does believe that all of the above information is true and correct. The above facts constitute your complainant's basis for believing that the above-named defendant, on or about the 7th day of December, 2025, in the City of Melrose, County of Stearns, State of Minnesota, committed the offense(s) described herein.
