The Bloomington Police Department received report(s) of a number of bicycle thefts occurring from the underground garage of an apartment building on the 8100 block of Bloomington, Hennepin County, Minnesota. These incidents included the following: On June 26, 2025, R. W.'s bicycle was stolen from the underground garage. The bicycle was purchased for $849.99. Surveillance video showed a suspect enter the complex via a secured door. Video showed the male pull hard on the door a few times to defeat the door lock mechanism.
The male then entered the fitness room before leaving through the secured garage with the bicycle. On August 15, 2025, M. M.'s bike was stolen from the underground garage. Video showed the suspect enter the building after giving a couple hard pulls to defeat the lock mechanism. M. M.'s bicycle was valued at $385.00. Through investigation, officer(s) identified the suspect in each incident to be the same suspect, who they identified as Dontavius Stone [DOB REDACTED], "Defendant" herein. Defendant has been convicted in court file number ••-CR-••-••••, from an offense on January 27, 2025 in which he was observed gaining entry into a building by doing multiple hard pulls to the door until the door mechanism was defeated, allowing the locked door of a hotel to open.
This is similar to the suspect's entry to the building on both June 26, 2025 and August 15, 2025. The officer compared images of Defendant from the January 27, 2025 offense to the surveillance from June 26, 2025 and August 15, 2025 and confirmed Defendant to be the suspect involved in all three offenses as the suspects have consistent facial features, eyeglasses, and mannerisms. The total loss from the bicycle thefts on these two dates was $1,234.99. The State requests this complaint issue as a warrant as Defendant is currently in custody at the DOC.
