On January 7, 2026, Deputy VanderPlas of the Carver County Sheriff's Office responded to a call for service involving threats made by an inmate in the Carver County Jail. The inmate was later identified as Ramiro Mendoza Vasquez, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein. Defendant is in custody pending felony firearm possession and escape from custody charges, among others, in Carver County district Court file 10-CR-25-1174. Deputy VanderPlas spoke with Juvenile female Victim (identified herein with fictitious initials ABC). ABC explained that she is scared of Defendant and that when she was on the phone call with Defendant on January 6, 2026 she could hear a change in Defendant's voice and tone indicating that Defendant was extremely upset when he stated that he wanted to kill her and that if he saw her out in public he would kill her.
ABC obtained an OFP against Defendant which was then served on Defendant while in custody. Deputy VanderPlas reviewed the recorded phone call with Defendant and ABC. During the phone call Defendant confronted ABC about not answering his phone calls and being out with another male. Defendant learns ABC was with another male he stated that when he finds out who this guy is "he is going to die". Defendant goes on to threaten ABC's friend stating that "she going to get it too." Right before the call ends Defendant states "you're lucky I don't even kill you right now." "One thing I'm gonna tell you, I better not see you when I get out, 'cause I will do that to you." Defendant provided a mirandized statement and explained that he called ABC and that an argument ensued but denied making any threats.
Defendant's next court date is March 18, 2026, at 1:30PM. The State requests this new offense be set at the same time so conditions of release can be addressed. PLEASE TAKE NOTICE: Pursuant to Minn. Stat. 609.49., intentional failure to appear for duly scheduled court appearances may result in additional criminal charges, and in addition to any arrest warrant that may otherwise be issued by the Court.
