On 03/28/26 at about 1145 hours, St. Paul Police responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED] in St. Paul, Ramsey County for a burglary. The property owner, JS, reported that he was watching a live security camera and there were two male suspects cutting fencing and dismantling commercial equipment on the property. The business had a closed fence with barbed wire around the top of it. The business was closed, the main entrance gate was secured with a lock, and the buildings were enclosed within the fence. Police arrived and spotted one of the suspects hiding behind a skid loader inside the fencing.
The suspect, later identified as Rashaad Terrell MCCLENTON (DOB/1987-09-01), was taken into custody. MCCLENTON had a black backpack containing tools that are commonly used for forced entry, such as a claw hammer, a screwdriver, locking pliers, a socket wrench, and loose metal sockets. MCCLENTON said that he went inside the fence to retrieve keys that his girlfriend threw there. MCCLENTON denied that anyone else was inside of the gate with him. MCCLENTON resisted being handcuffed. JS told police that he saw MCCLENTON and the other person inside the fence dismantling two large AC units via camera.
The units, valued at $7,000 each, were now in pieces near the fence entry and worthless. SEVERSON said that MCCLENTON and the other suspect frequently come into the yard, pile items up against the fence, and steal them. In a post-Miranda interview, MCCLENTON stated he was walking in the alley behind the address and his friend "Jessica" took his keys and threw them over the fence. MCCLENTON said he jumped the fence to retrieve his keys. For purposes of Rule 6.
