On November 14, 2025, Forest Lake Police Officers responded to a theft in progress at Cub Foods in the city of Forest Lake, Washington County, Minnesota. There were two people in the store later identified as Hailey Marie Tavarez, [DOB REDACTED] and David Alex Pishchik, [DOB REDACTED]. The store manager, a known adult, reported watching Tavarez and Pishchik selecting merchandise and placing some into shopping carts. Some merchandise was taken to an area in the store that was not recorded by cameras and was no longer visible when Tavarez came back into camera view.
Tavarez and Pishchik were observed in the store for approximately two hours. Tavarez and Pishchik then started with exit the store, past all points of purchase with items in a shopping cart. However, when Tavarez and Pishchik observed officer, the cart was abandoned, and the parties exited the store. Tavarez and Pishchik were stopped by law enforcement. Both parties on merchandise on their person and in bags. The total of that merchandise was $1,300.24 and the abandoned cart has $135.37 in merchandise.
Pishchik was read his Miranda Rights and said the theft was Tavarez's idea. Also, located on his person was a white powdery substance. Tavarez noted that she had fentanyl in purse. Also located amongst Tavarez's belongings were white powder and 9 salmon pills believed to be amphetamine. Tavarez and Pishchik and in custody.
