On February 27, 2026, Officer Juenger of the Austin Police Department was dispatched to 107 13th Street NE in the City of Austin, County of Mower for a report of found drugs. The reporting party (Witness 1) advised Juenger that at approximately midnight that day, he observed a subject on his security video walking around his residence. Witness 1 stated that he also observed police in the area speaking with the subject. Juenger learned that law enforcement had been in the area at approximately midnight investigating a reported gunshot.
Witness 1 told Officer Juenger that he observed the subject, later identified as MICHAEL ANTHONY JURGENSEN, DOB/072790, the defendant herein, toss something on the ground that was white. Witness 1 stated that the defendant went out into his yard to see what the defendant had tossed. Witness 1 located the item and observed it to be a small baggie with a white powdery substance inside. Witness 1 collected the item and placed it inside a larger baggie for safety as he believed it was a controlled substance and contacted law enforcement.
Witness 1 provided the item to Officer Juenger. Juenger recognized the substance to be either cocaine or fentanyl. Juenger later tested the substance. It field tested positive for cocaine and weighed 1.1 grams. Witness 1 also provided the security footage to Officer Juenger. Juenger reviewed the footage and observed the defendant on the north side of Witness 1’s residence walking towards the roadway. Squad car emergency lights can then be seen on the south side of the residence. Once the defendant sees the emergency lights, he pulls the baggie of cocaine from his pants pocket and tosses it onto the ground.
The defendant is then seen walking around the front of the house and makes contact with an officer. Officer Juenger reviewed the law enforcement contact that occurred as a result of the firearms complaint and confirmed that the subject in the video was the defendant.
