On or about November 29, 2025, at approximately 5:58 PM, officers of the Blaine Police Department were dispatched to respond to a report of a theft in progress at the Mills Fleet Farms located at [ADDRESS REDACTED], in the City of Blaine, Anoka County, Minnesota. Officers were advised that one male suspect and one female suspect were observed selecting merchandise and concealing it in a black bag. One of the suspects was later fully identified to be AVERY MARIE NESJA, [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein.
Officers were advised by loss prevention that an employee had seen the suspects pass all points of sale and exit the building without attempting to pay for any of the concealed merchandise in their possession. Review of the store surveillance footage confirmed both the male suspect and Defendant participated in selecting and concealing the merchandise in the black bag. Upon arrival, the officer saw the two suspects leave together in a vehicle. The officer initiated a traffic stop of the vehicle, being driven by the male suspect.
The male suspect admitted that the stolen merchandise would be found in the back seat of the vehicle. Defendant was removed from the passenger seat of the vehicle and placed under arrest. The large black bag with the stolen merchandise was found in the vehicle. The items concealed inside were determined to have a total value of $782.90. No one gave Defendant or the male suspect permission to take any merchandise from the store without providing proper payment.
