At approximately 12:39 A.M. On March 20, 2026, Wright County Sheriff’s Deputy Preusse saw a vehicle leave Kwik Trip and pull onto State Highway 24 NW in Clearwater, Wright County, Minnesota. He stopped the vehicle because the driver’s side headlight was not illuminated. When he approached the vehicle, he saw two marijuana roaches and a marijuana smoking pipe sitting between the front passenger seat and the center console. The roaches were not completely smoked; they still had a weighable amount of marijuana in them.
The passenger, Wade Michael Hunter [DOB REDACTED] (hereinafter “the defendant”), admitted it was marijuana. The vehicle was searched. A green bag near the defendant’s feet contained more marijuana and what Deputy Preusse recognized as psychedelic mushrooms. The mushrooms later field-tested positive for psilocin and weighed a total of 5.55 grams. The mushrooms were sent to the lab for further analysis. In a Mirandized statement, the defendant admitted the mushrooms were his and that he bought them a few months ago from a guy in Minneapolis.
