On or about November 2, 2025, at approximately 1:20 AM, officers of the Woodbury Police Department responded to a reported fight occurring at [ADDRESS REDACTED], City of Woodbury, Washington County, Minnesota. Officers were advised the fight was between a female and a male suspect, later identified to be RAUL ALEJANDRO ORTIZ, [DOB REDACTED], the Defendant herein, and occurred in the parking lot of a Wild Bills at the address reported. Upon arrival, officers observed Defendant trying to get a female in the back passenger side of a parked vehicle.
The female was noted to have pulled Defendant's hair. An officer stepped in and told Defendant to move against the outside wall of the building, which he did. Defendant was identified as the registered owner of the vehicle where the female was located. Defendant stated he was inside the bar and wanted to go home, so he went over to his wife, the female in the back of the car, and grabbed her to get out of the bar. Accord to Defendant, this is when a bouncer grabbed him and separated him from his wife.
Eventually, they both got out of the bar, during which Defendant's wife scratched him in the face multiple times. Defendant stated he is not seeking charges against his wife. While speaking with Defendant, the officer noted clear signs of intoxication. Defendant admitted to driving his vehicle from where it was parked in the parking lot to where it was parked when the officer arrived at the scene. The officer proceeded to conduct standardized field sobriety tests, during which Defendant showed several clues of impairment.
A preliminary breath test produced a result 0.122 BAC. Defendant was placed under arrest for DWI and transported to Woodbury Police Department. At 1:52 AM, Defendant was read the breath test advisory and advised that he understood. Defendant agreed to take the test after speaking with an attorney. A final breath test result was produced, showing a BAC of 0.19. A review of Defendant's record shows no prior qualifying convictions.
