On February 12, 2026, officers were dispatched to the report of a domestic assault at an apartment on Park Avenue South in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Upon arrival, they met with the Victim who reported that her child’s father, LAVAR JERMAR TAYLOR JR. [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, had just assaulted her in the apartment. Officer spoke further with the Victim [NAME REDACTED] went to the Defendant’s apartment to pick up her child. When she arrived, she and Defendant started arguing about the child.
During the argument, Defendant grabbed her shirt and coat and twisted them around her throat impeding her ability to breathe. She reported to officers she thought she was going to die. He then banged her head into the wall. The Victim [NAME REDACTED] from Defendant by running out into the hallway. Defendant followed her into the hallway when she was trying to call 911 and yell for help. Defendant then grabbed their child and left before officers arrived. Officers observed bruising on the Victim’s left side directly below her neck.
The Victim [NAME REDACTED] was still hurting as she spoke with officers. Officers also spoke to a neighbor who confirmed seeing Victim [NAME REDACTED] in the hallway. The neighbor said this was not the first time she witnessed domestic abuse between the two but that she had been too scared to get involved. Defendant is currently in custody.
