On November 4, 2025, at 0934 hours, Maplewood police officers responded to the Good Will, [ADDRESS REDACTED], Maplewood, Ramsey County, on a report of an assault. The manager, JMS, [DOB REDACTED], said that a female, later identified as Kathleen Maria Murphy, [DOB REDACTED], was outside the store before it opened. JMS recognized Murphy as a person who had been asked to leave the property numerous times for harassing customers and asking for money. JMS approached Murphy and told her that she needed to leave the property.
Murphy pulled out a knife and threatened to stab JMS. This behavior frightened JMS. Officers located Murphy nearby and arrested her. They recovered a black flip knife from her right front pocket. In a post-Miranda interview, Murphy said that JMS attempted to push her. She denied that she displayed the knife. Murphy kicked the backseat of the squad and screamed. She also spit toward officers through the window. She banged her head on the cage in the squad car, and she stated she was going to kill herself.
