On February 8, 2026, Edina Police Department officers responded to a reported burglary occurring within a gated parking garage at [ADDRESS REDACTED] in the city of Edina, Hennepin County, Minnesota. Officers learned from the reporting party that her vehicle parked in the secured garage attached to a residential building had items stolen without her permission. Reporting party notes that the value of the loss as a result of the items being taken is approximately $346. Officers received surveillance footage from the aforementioned facility and observed a vehicle enter the secured garage by tailgating an authorized vehicle, thereby failing to provide a permit for authorized entry.
Said vehicle can be seen traveling around the garage and using the facility's car wash. During use of the car wash, both occupants of the vehicle can be observed on surveillance. The license plate displayed on the rear of the vehicle was reported stolen with plate number [PLATE REDACTED] displayed. After using the car wash, the individuals can be seen on surveillance approaching several vehicles parked in the garage and entering said vehicles. Both individuals can also be seen removing items and taking them back to the vehicle they were using.
Also on surveillance, officers observed two individuals later identified as AISHA ABDIRAHMAN MAHAMUD, [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter Defendant and ELIM MOHAMUD, hereinafter Co-Defendant, discard a brown paper bag. Officers retrieved said bag and located a receipt for a food purchase displaying the name "Aisha." On February 9, 2026, officers located the vehicle with plate number [PLATE REDACTED] displayed. A stop was conducted as the vehicle was reported stolen. Upon arrival, officers reviewing aforementioned surveillance identified Defendant and Co-Defendant as the individuals appearing on surveillance within the secured parking garage on February 9, 2026. Co-Defendant provided a post-Miranda statement admitting that he was in the vehicle with RRL720 plates on the date in question and did use the car wash within the garage in Edina.
Defendant is currently in custody. The State requests this complaint issue via Order of Detention.
