On or about December 8, 2025, University of Minnesota Police were dispatched to a suspicious person inside the Frontier Hall front lounge area, University of Minnesota, Hennepin County, MN. Upon arrival, officers made contact with BIRDEN-WEEMS, JEREMIAH MALIK [DOB REDACTED], hereinafter "Defendant." Officers recognized Defendant as being the suspect in an assault earlier in the day. Officers placed Defendant under arrest. Defendant became verbally and physically uncooperative once handcuffed. While escorting Defendant towards the front lobby, Defendant tried to pull away from as well as push back into Officer E. P. To resist the arrest process.
Once in the lobby, Defendant quickly wound up his right elbow, torqued his body, and purposefully elbowed Officer E. P. In the left bicep then braced his body as if he was going to continue to fight and assault Officer E. P. Officer E. P. Sustained an injury to his left thumb and left bicep. Defendant was transported to Hennepin County Jail. Officer E. P. Was evaluated at the University of Minnesota Medical Center Emergency Room. Officer E. P. Sustained a demonstratable injury to his left thumb, a sprain of the metacarpophalangeal (MCP) joint of the left thumb, and a left arm contusion.
Defendant is currently in custody.
