On October 16, 2025, at approximately 1930 hours, Edina Police Officers responded to a theft and trespass at the Southdale Center, 1555 Southdale Center, Edina, Hennepin County. The reporting party, Macy's Asset Protection Officer A. B., stated that he observed two known trespassed individuals in the Southdale Center. The suspects were identified as RAFAIEL ERIC CHARLESTON, Defendant Charleston, and JOLANDA DEANE-ORTLEY, Defendant Deane-Ortley herein. Both Defendants were trespassed from the Southdale Center premises on June 24, 2025, for one year.
The Defendants were observed on surveillance enter Sephora together and then began selecting merchandise and concealing it in their waistbands and bags. Defendant Charleston left the store at 1911 hours and then Defendant Deane-Ortley followed behind him at 1915 hours, selecting more items. The total value of items taken is $1,819.00. Defendant Charleston was stopped, and Officers located several items from Sephora in his backpack. Officers identified both Defendants in the surveillance from prior personal interactions with them.
Both Defendants have prior theft related felony convictions on their record. Defendant Charleston was released to HCMC for an unrelated injury. Defendant Charleston has current active warrants and therefore the State requests this complaint issue as a warrant.
