At around 11:00 AM on May 25, 2026, officers responded to [ADDRESS REDACTED], Saint Paul, Ramsey County, on a report of a body lying by the railroad tracks. Officers arrived and spoke to the caller who reported he was walking his English bulldog along the railroad tracks. The dog kept pulling its owner in a direction and alerting him. The caller saw a human body lying in between two parallel railroad tracks, and he immediately called 911. The caller said the man appeared dead. The caller told police the body was not there when he had walked his dog in the same area around the same time the day before.
Officers found an obviously deceased shirtless man wearing shorts and one sandal. The man had lacerations to his left arm, chest, and torso. Medics arrived and declared the man dead. Medics said the man’s injuries did not appear to have been caused by having been hit by a train. Investigators responded and found what appeared to be a blood trail from the body that went approximately 15 feet along the railroad tracks. The deceased’s matching sandal was found around 6 feet from the body. Investigators found a piece of paper face down on the ground a foot away from the body.
The paper was an eyeglass prescription in the name of GAP [DOB REDACTED]. Investigators viewed GAP’s driver’s license photo and positively identified GAP as the deceased. Investigators discovered GAP had a Subaru Crosstrek bearing Minnesota license plates KGH113 registered to him. Officers found the Crosstrek parked on Prosperity Avenue south of Ames Avenue at around 3:15 PM on May 25, 2026. The Crosstrek was less than 1/2 mile from where GAP’s body was found. Officers towed the Crosstrek for processing.
GAP’s family told investigators GAP had left a gathering around 4:00 PM on May 24, 2026 in his blue Crosstrek. GAP planned on meeting friends at a brewery, and he said he would be back. GAP wore Birkenstock sandals, light‐colored shorts, and a tank top when he left. GAP’s family had not heard from GAP since he left the gathering. Investigators obtained information from GAP’s cell phone records. GAP’s cell phone arrived in the area of Ames and Prosperity Avenues between 6:53 PM and 6:59 PM on May 24, 2026. GAP called 763‐215‐2889 at 4:46 PM, at 5:34 PM, and again at 6:51 PM. GAP received a call from 763‐215‐2889 at 6:34 PM that lasted 170 seconds.
GAP’s call at 6:51 PM lasted for 7 minutes and 49 seconds. The four calls with 763‐215‐2889 were the only calls GAP made on May 24, 2026. Investigators spoke with Union Pacific Railroad employees and reviewed videos from trains passing through the area where GAP’s body was found. A train went through the area at 3:07 AM on May 24, 2026, and GAP’s body was not present. A track inspector went through the area at around 11:30 AM on May 24, 2026 and did not see GAP’s body. Trains went through the area at 8:55 PM and 11:12 PM on May 24, 2026, and GAP’s body was clearly visible lying in the position where it was later found.
