On January 25, 2026, at approximately 10:58pm, Officer Chad Morrison of the Lakes Area Police Department observed a tan Buick displaying MN plate number [PLATE REDACTED] traveling north on Olinda Trail near 300th Street in Lindstrom, Chisago County, Minnesota. Officer Morrison noted the vehicle to be displaying expired registration from August 2025. Based on contacts with the suspect vehicle the day prior, Officer Morrison believed the driver to be JESSE DEAN TESCH, [DOB REDACTED] ("Defendant" herein), who is known to have a revoked driver's license.
Officer Morrison activated his emergency lights to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect vehicle did not immediately stop and continued on for several turns before coming to a stop. The driver, later confirmed to be Defendant, kicked open the driver's side door and exited the vehicle. Defendant was given multiple commands to show his hands and get on the ground, which he did not immediately comply with. Defendant was ultimately placed under arrest and an inventory search of the vehicle was completed.
During the search, officers located in the center console a cigarette box containing a white crystal that later Nik-tested positive for methamphetamine and weighed in at 1.35 grams. In a Mirandized statement, when asked what was in the cigarette box, Defendant replied "exactly what it looks like." Officer Morrison then stated it looks like meth, to which Defendant replied, "it is.
