DANIELSON then unsuccessfully fled from police when they tried to stop him. Once captured, DANIELSON was Mirandized and said he saw the vehicle on the side of the road, saw its keys on the seat, and stole it because his feet hurt from walking.
This case is still active. 62-CR-25-8622 On 11/17/2025 DANIELSON stole a truck that the owner was able to track via GPS. Based on location updates from the owner, police quickly spotted the truck and blocked it in. DANIELSON said that a friend named "Sam" from Dorothy Day let him the borrow the truck. CCTV footage showed DANIELSON driving the vehicle just 8 minutes after it was stolen. This case is still active. Current offense: On 12/17/25 at about 0819 hours, St. Paul Police took a report of a stolen motor vehicle.
The vehicle’s owner, MEL, said he parked his 2022 Ford Explorer (WI/ASM5664) at the Holiday Inn River Center parking ramp at about 1600 hours on 12/16/25. Overnight, someone stole it. MEL said the vehicle could be tracked via GPS. According to TrueCar.com prices for a 2022 Ford Explorer currently range from $16,498 to $47,000. Less than two hours later, at about 1010 hrs, Ramsey County Deputies spotted the Explorer as it drove from westbound County Rd B W to southbound Snelling Ave S. Deputies followed as the Explorer drove to the Holiday gas station at [ADDRESS REDACTED] N in St. Paul, Ramsey County.
There, Deputies blocked the vehicle in using a vehicle intervention technique (VIT) and took the driver into custody. The driver was later identified as Tyler William DANIELSON [DOB REDACTED]. The backseat passenger was later identified as Nayko Ramon Maylin NEWTON [DOB REDACTED]. The front passenger, later identified as Kurt Joseph LANG [DOB REDACTED], appeared to be overdosing and was removed from the vehicle. While waiting for EMS, LANG said "I did get in a stolen vehicle, but I didn't take it." Both DANIELSON and NEWTON had multiple warrants and were arrested.
In a post-Miranda interview, DANIELSON said he met up with LANG at the Holiday Inn River Center. LANG went into the parking ramp and then picked him up in the stolen Explorer. DANIELSON said LANG then drove the Explorer to Starbucks where they met up with NEWTON. After leaving Starbucks, they drove to Target in Roseville and LANG was driving. DANIELSON said that when they left Target, LANG asked him to drive because he was tired. DANIELSON said that he then drove the Explorer to the Holiday Gas Station to buy gas.
