Probable Cause
On or about September 26, 2025, Law Enforcement was dispatched to the intersection of Medtronic Parkway NE and Central Avenue NE, in the City of Fridley, Anoka County, Minnesota for a stalled vehicle that was blocking traffic. Upon arriving at the scene, Law Enforcement observed a 2025 Nissan Pathfinder with no license plates sitting in the intersection that was unoccupied. Law Enforcement ran the VIN of the vehicle through NCIC and learned it was stolen out of St. Paul. While inventorying the stolen vehicle, Law Enforcement found two single license plates inside.
Law Enforcement ran checks on the license plates and learned they were both stolen. Law Enforcement obtained MNDOT surveillance footage that shows the stolen vehicle coming to a stop in the middle of the intersection. A single male, later identified through investigation as MATTHEW JAMES MCBRIDE [DOB REDACTED], Defendant herein, is seen exiting the vehicle and walking across the road to the nearby Holiday gas station store. Law Enforcement obtained surveillance footage from Holiday that shows Defendant walking from the stolen vehicle to the store.
Defendant remains at the store for approximately 90 minutes and appears to ask multiple people for rides while the stolen vehicle is being processed and towed by Law Enforcement.
