That on March 5, 2026, Officer R. H. Of the Minneapolis Police Gun Investigations Unit received signed search warrants from Hennepin County Court to search the persons of individuals identified as Uriel Alonso De La Cruz Rodriguez and Defendant herein, and G. M. The search warrants were based on information received that Defendant and G. M. Had been observed in possession of handguns. The search warrant was also for the vehicle they had been in. Officers located the vehicle occupied by Defendant and the other male on March 5, 2026, and followed it until it stopped at [ADDRESS REDACTED] South in Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, the Loon Smoke Shop.
Defendant and the other male got out of the vehicle and officers stopped them and searched their persons pursuant to the search warrants obtained earlier that day. Officers located a tan handgun and loaded magazine on Defendant’s person inside of his jacket hoodie pocket which gun had a live round in the chamber and did not have a serial number. Defendant did not have a permit to carry a handgun. After Miranda, Defendant admitted to knowingly possessing the handgun. Officers located a black Glock 23C handgun with an extended magazine loaded with live rounds of.40 caliber ammunition, including a round in the chamber, in the waistband of Defendant’s companion.
Defendant’s companion also did not have a permit to carry a handgun. After Miranda, Defendant’s companion admitted to knowingly possessing the handgun found on his person.
